SAKI awarded the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) a grant in the amount of $1 million, which it will use to inventory unsubmitted SAKs; upgrade its evidence tracking system; and analyze and develop new policies, procedures, and protocols for submissions/tracking, investigations, and prosecutions. NOPD will also fund a SAK hotline and hire a site coordinator, justice advocate, and civilian personnel.
