2024 SAKI TTA Trauma Informed Victim Interviewing Training & FBI ViCAP Training
September 4-5, 2024, and September 6, 2024
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in partnership with RTI International are excited to announce a 2024 Trauma Informed Victim Interviewing Training, supported by Grant No. 2019-MU-BX-K011. This event will be hosted at RTI International's campus in Research Triangle Park, NC on September 4th and 5th. Additionally, the FBI ViCAP team will provide a full-day hands-on training on September 6th.

The 2024 Trauma Informed Victim Interviewing Training will feature presentations on neurobiology of trauma, advocacy, suspect interviewing, law enforcement considerations for cold case sexual assault investigation, and prosecution engagement. Attendees will also have the chance to practice trauma informed interview techniques in a mock cold case investigation scenario. The session will end with a discussion on case closure consideration including prosecution.
ViCAP is a unit of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responsible for the analysis of serial violent and sexual crimes, organizationally situated within the Critical Incident Response Group's (CIRG) National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime (NCAVC). The training will cover the use of the ViCAP database, an introduction to unit initiatives, and a review of investigative resources.
