Adrienne Isom Malin
Adrienne Isom Malin owns Human Behavior Analysis Group, LLC a consultancy offering assistance to law enforcement, prosecutors, non-governmental organizations, those who represent victims in complex abuse, neglect, torture, exploitation, and homicide cases involving child victims, and private entities striving to make their online platform safe for children. She also provides support through comprehensive case reviews, aiding those representing falsely accused or wrongly convicted clients by integrating evidence-based concepts into litigation documents and arguments.
Adrienne retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2023 following more than 20 years as a Special Agent. For the first 10 years of her career, Adrienne conducted investigations as a member of a federal, state and local task force dedicated to investigating crimes perpetrated on child victims in the greater Los Angeles area. She investigated child sexual abuse material production and trading, child sexual abuse, child sex tourism, and child sex trafficking. After serving ten years on the task force, Adrienne was selected as a subject matter expert and FBI profiler at the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). In her role as an FBI profiler, she expanded her knowledge and assisted domestic and international law enforcement in cases involving missing/abducted children, child homicide, child exploitation via the Internet, sexual abuse of children, institutional child sexual abuse, child torture, equivocal death and animal abuse/cruelty.
Adrienne participated in research on juvenile offenders responsible for abducting, sexually assaulting and murdering children, child abduction homicide and the sexual exploitation of children. She is versed in creating research protocols and applying statistical findings to active investigations and she trained hundreds of law enforcement officers in the U.S and overseas on various topics related to the investigation of crimes against children. Adrienne has authored criminal investigative analysis reports, countless criminal affidavits, led search and arrest operations, and testified before Grand Juries and in local, state, and federal criminal proceedings. Additionally, she has co-authored two journal articles and several law enforcement guides published by the FBI. She is qualified as an expert on child sex offender grooming behavior in U.S. District Court.
Leonard Opanashuk
Mr. Opanashuk operates Motives Unlocked, LLC, a behavioral analysis consulting firm. He consults with law enforcement, private entities, media production companies, and writers.
Mr. Opanashuk retired from the FBI In June 2023.
Mr. Opanashuk began his FBI career on February 11, 2001. After graduating from the academy, he was assigned to the Portland Division of the FBI. In Portland, Mr. Opanashuk worked violent crime, organized crime, and counterterrorism matters. He was member and Senior Team Leader of the Portland Division Evidence Response Team from 2001-2009.
From 2009 to 2015, Mr. Opanashuk served in the FBI's Buffalo Division, Mr. Opanashuk worked on cold case homicides with a variety of local and state law enforcement agencies. Mr. Opanashuk coordinated the FBI Buffalo Cold Case Homicide Working Group with members from each local and state law enforcement agency, including the area crime labs and the medical examiners' offices. Mr. Opanashuk facilitated getting cases presented to the working group and coordinated resources to address cases that the working group examined. He was a member and Senior Team Leader of the Buffalo Division Evidence Response Team between 2011 and 2015. He was also a member of the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team from 2012-2015.
In 2015 he was promoted to the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group, Behavioral Analysis Unit 4 (BAU-4), where he consulted on cases involving serial murder, serial sexual assault, kidnapping, and single homicides involving adult victims.
In 2021, he transferred to BAU-5. He managed the Criminal Investigative Analysis Training Program which is the first phase of training for all new BAU profilers.
Mr. Opanashuk graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of New York. Prior to the FBI, he served as Second Assistant District Attorney for the Wyoming County District Attorney's Office in Warsaw, New York.
