A sexual assault case review incorporates multidisciplinary team input to assess the condition and the direct follow-up of a case investigation. A case review should involve information sharing for planning further investigation, prosecution, and advocacy services. This document outlines key procedures for the case review and has sample checklists and forms to guide the review process. Members of any discipline can use this document to learn more about the steps of a case review.
Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative aims to create a coordinated community response that ensures just resolution to sexual assault cases. Through this program, funding is provided to support multidisciplinary community response teams engaged in the comprehensive reform of jurisdictions approaches to sexual assault cases resulting from evidence found in previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits.
